Head of the Terminology Coordination Unit of the European Parliament, Luxembourg
Born in 1957 in Thessaloniki (GR). Studied languages (German, French, Spanish) and law. Speaks and writes also English, Italian and Dutch. Post-graduated in German Classical Theatre and Romantic (Justus Liebig Universität Giessen).
Linguistic activity: Translator in the Greek Unit of the EP since 1981. Taught translation and terminology at the University of Corfu (1997-1998) and since 2013 Terminology and Multilingualism in the Masters of the University of Luxembourg “Multilingual Learning in Multicultural Environments”. ECQA certified terminologist. Member of the Board of TermNet.
Cultural activity: Member of the European Cultural Parliament since 2009. Seconded by the EP to cultural activities as: Director of International Relations of “Thessaloniki 1997, European Capital of Culture, as organiser of the European Prize of Literary Translation “Aristeion” (1998) and from 2000 to 2002 as Director of Cabinet of the Greek Minister of Culture. Coordinator of the European Observatory of Youth and Media (2000-2001), Member of the Board of the Greek Organisation of Tourism (2000). As external activity:, Secretary General of the Network of Capitals of Culture (2000-2006), Cultural Advisor to the Mayor of Athens (2007-2010).
